X-Elio is ready to begin construction of its $200 million Blue Grass Solar Farm from this month, creating up to 400 jobs.
The company said it had secured the regulatory and financial approvals to kick-off work on the project, located 14km from Chinchilla in the Western Downs region.
The solar farm will connect to Powerlink’s transmission network, and is expected to produce an anticipated 420 GWh of green energy annually once construction of the solar farm was complete in late 2021.
Powerlink Chief Executive Paul Simshauser welcomes the opportunity to work with X-Elio to facilitate the safe and efficient connection of the Blue Grass Solar Farm to the National Electricity Market.
“Preliminary construction works for the grid connection project are now underway, and involve connecting the solar farm to Powerlink’s existing Chinchilla to Columboola transmission line via a new substation to be built at Cameby.”
The Blue Grass Solar Farm is X-Elio’s largest solar farm in Australia and will be Powerlink’s 20th committed renewable connection in Queensland.
