To select new transmission line routes, Powerlink uses a process that carefully assesses social, environmental and economic factors such as existing and future land use, the location of homes, flora and fauna, existing electricity infrastructure corridors, industrial development and topography.
Once a project need is identified, we will engage with community throughout a number of stages as we work collaboratively to determine the most appropriate location for a new transmission line.
This assessment process is built and relies on meaningful, authentic and early engagement practices with landholders, Traditional Owner groups, the community and other stakeholders.
We understand that working effectively with our stakeholders produces the best results for everyone involved in our projects.
